When you know about a person, it’s very difficult to pretend you don’t. Who asks a question they already know the answer to?
In order to understand fully, learn and share the life story of a guests on the show, Jen starts with one genuine point of interest/introduction or entry. The bigger goal is to create the trust and space, creativity in thought to give each guest the opportunity to share their story openly.
As such, Jen believes it’s imperative not to know anything… at least as little as possible about the person before the inquiry begins.
This way, the conversation is completely fresh, instinctive and sincere.
In the case of a more known personality, they don’t get asked the same questions and the conversation which emerges is authentic, spontaneous, reflective and more real.
